Acting as both a downlighter and an uplighter, DALI Light takes its name from the industry standard control system into which is integrates. Manufactured out of graphic etched acrylic LED Light Sheet, DALI Light offers a two way circular spread of ambient white light. An anodised aluminium plate houses a series of energy efficient dimmable LEDs, which when combined create a technical lighting solution for large scale commercial environments with an emphasis on low energy solutions.

Sandi Moolman, Applelec business development manager, said: 'LED Light Sheet is an ideal light source for use in product design due to its slim depth of 6mm or 8mm and wide range of construction and programming options. The DALI Light is an inspiring example of what can be achieved with the product.'

Vicki Leach, Deadgood design manager, said: 'The discovery of acrylic LED Light Sheet was somewhat of a revelation, with its overtly graphic grid lighting up like a futuristic vision from Tron and as if this wasn't enough to whet our appetite, we discovered that when turned off the material becomes transparent.'

The main focus for Deadgood in the creation of the DALI Light, was to respond to many a client request to incorporate a DALI control system (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) into a decorative fitting. Secondary to the ability of controlling the lighting output were demands for the product to be energy efficient, elegant and the ability to be specified in different sizes without impacting greatly on price. These technical requirements were coupled with a desire to create a lighting solution that was both poetic and simple. 

The resulting product is suitable for a variety of settings, creating a highly graphic visual statement when illuminated and almost disappearing when off due to the transparent properties of the LED Light Sheet material.
