dpa Lighting Consultants selected Applelec’s LED Light Sheet to bring illumination to the luxury spa hotel, The Langley in Buckinghamshire.
Steeped in heritage, the country manor hotel has undergone an extensive multi-million-pound renovation over the last four years to reinstate and celebrate the hotel’s rich history. Set within 500 acres of picturesque countryside, The Langley comprises of two buildings, the first a historic mansion that was once the former estate of the Duke of Marlborough and the second, a Grade II Listed 18th century building.
Featuring sumptuous interiors, the public areas, restaurant, spa, and boutique selection of 41 elegant rooms and suites were designed by award-winning interior design company Dennis Irvine Studio. With the height of sophistication and refinement in mind, the interior design carefully balances the history of the estate with contemporary luxury spaces that showcase the palatial architecture of The Langley.
In lighting the hotel, dpa Lighting Consultants worked closely alongside Dennis Irvine Studio and architects Gibberd to achieve a coherent scheme when moving throughout the luxury hotel. Creating a lighting scheme for the front of house and guest areas, the lighting was designed to emphasise the restored architectural features, as well as create focal points and a functional level of light.
As part of the comprehensive lighting design, dpa Lighting Consultants selected Applelec’s LED Light Sheet to bring illumination to display shelving throughout The Langley, including the hotel’s state of the art, 2,500sqm subterranean spa.
Upon entering the spa, guests are greeted with a grand entrance way lined with display cabinets, which are illuminated with Applelec’s 8mm LED Light Sheet panels. Fitting neatly into the limited recess depth of the display shelving, the slim light panels ensured the sleek design of the spa would not be compromised.
Stephanie Harris, dpa Lighting Consultants’ senior designer said: ‘To complement the tranquil environment of the spa, we selected 2700K LED Light Sheet, where the warm white colour temperature of the light panels further added to the calming and peaceful ambience of the space. We specified Applelec’s LED Light Sheet as we knew the premium quality of the light panel would deliver for this project - providing bright, even and smooth illumination, LED Light Sheet brought to life the luxury cosmetics available to guests.’
The Langley will be the fourth luxury Collection property in England, joining its sister hotels The Wellesley Knightsbridge, The Park Tower Knightbridge and The Westbury in London.
