Applelec’s LED Light Sheet was selected by glass solution specialists Mega Glass to bring illumination to the concierge area of the award winning apartment and facilities build, The Corniche in central London.

Designed by renowned architectural practice Foster + Partners, The Corniche is situated at an exclusive location on the south side of the River Thames, boasting panoramic views of the city and Houses of Parliament. As part of the prestigious project, Mega Glass selected Applelec’s LED Light Sheet to create striking architectural, light installations for the ground floor of the luxury build. The light panels were used to back illuminate sections of printed glass, which were positioned to line to the walls of the entrance way corridor and were pieced together to create a dramatic, illuminated feature wall for the fireplace area located in the heart of the development.

Situated in the concierge area of The Corniche, the soaring 6.5m tall fireplace was created from 46 squares of printed glass, which were each individually illuminated by LED light Sheet. At 811mm x 535mm in size at their largest, the LED Light Sheet panels were embedded with 4100K LEDs, where the warm white colour temperature complements the yellowy hues. The combination of colour and light produced a warm glow, achieving an opulent focal point in the entrance way of The Corniche building.

Andrew Fox, Mega Glass’ Supply Operations Manager said: ‘Applelec’s LED Light Sheet was specifically selected to illuminate the printed glass as we knew this product would deliver the high quality finish required for the esteemed Corniche project. The bright, even illumination of LED Light Sheet really heighted the appearance of the corridor and fireplace feature walls, bringing to life the unusual patterns and detailing within the printed glass pieces.’

The Corniche complex provides, 235 apartments, along with offices, restaurants, a residents’ bar, gym, spa and luxury gardens.
