Applelec LED Light Sheet back illuminates residential project

Applelec Lighting collaborated with Intecho and Mega Glass to deliver a high standard finish and a quick turnaround for a residentail project

The collaborative project delivered a stunning, lit feature piece

During the lockdown period, Applelec Lighting collaborated with smart home systems experts Intecho and glass specialists Mega Glass to create a stunning illuminated bar feature for a high-end residential property.

Inspiration for the design of the illuminated bar frontage originated from the client seeing a recently completed hospitality project, where Applelec LED Light Sheet was chosen to back illuminate a vast green agate floor for the high-end, brasserie restaurant chain in London.

From working together on the lavish restaurant project, Intecho brought the residential project to Appelec Lighting to manufacture bespoke LED panels to backlight the client’s bar design. Initially, agate was the favoured choice for the project, however, with the semi-precious stone being a natural material there were extremely long lead times. Applelec Lighting therefore worked closely with the client to deliver an alternative solution that would achieve the same desired aesthetic and design.

From collaborating on previous projects such as The Corniche, London, Applelec Lighting’s architectural specification manager Sandi Moolman reached out to Mega Glass, who produced a beautiful blue stone print where the effect was strikingly similar to agate stone.

Sandi Moolman, Applelec Lighting’s architectural specification manager said: ‘With the residential project taking place during lockdown, we were faced with a new set of challenges, however, it was vital that the same level of service would be delivered despite the difficult circumstances. Collaborating with companies we know and trust, we collectively were able to achieve client satisfaction, by producing a high standard finish and a quick turnaround for the project.’

The collaborative project delivered a stunning, lit feature piece, where back-illumination complemented the intricate detailing of the printed glass, achieving a dramatic focal point.
